Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the NoteMarket platform ("Platform"), operated by NoteMarket (Private) Limited ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Platform you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform. By creating an account you represent that you meet this requirement. Students under 18 should have parental or guardian consent.
2. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe to be fraudulent.
3. Free Tier
Free tier users can browse the Market, view free resources, upload notes, earn from views, and use the Study Space in full — subjects, notebooks, flashcards and goal tracking — with no subscription required. Reading the full notes library and accessing Jot AI requires a subscription. A 14-day trial is available with card details required; you are not charged if you cancel before day 14.
4. Beta Pricing
During the beta period (until we reach 1,000 paying subscribers), subscription prices are:
- Student: $1.99/month
- Plus: $3.99/month
- Premium: $7.99/month
Members who subscribe during the beta period will have their subscription price locked at the beta rate for as long as they maintain an active subscription. If a subscription lapses and is restarted after beta pricing ends, the then-current pricing applies. Full launch prices ($4.99, $7.99, $14.99/month respectively) apply to new subscribers after the beta period closes.
5. AI Usage Limits
Jot AI features (chat, exam generation, flashcard generation, exam grading, vision, and predicted paper attempts) draw from a shared rolling usage pool per account. Limits reset automatically — there is no monthly cap:
- Student: up to 20 questions per 5-hour window, up to 280 per 7 days
- Plus: up to 40 questions per 5-hour window, up to 560 per 7 days
- Premium: up to 70 questions per 5-hour window, up to 1,050 per 7 days
Trial users receive Premium-tier limits for the duration of their trial. Vision requests count as 3 questions against the pool due to their higher processing cost. We reserve the right to adjust these limits with reasonable notice.
6. Payments and Refunds
Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, and other major cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay). Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time through your account settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by law.
7. Uploader Payouts
Each month, 25% of subscription revenue received that month, after refunds, chargebacks and payment processing fees, is shared among uploaders in proportion to their weighted qualifying views. A qualifying view is a signed-in subscriber reading a note for at least 30 seconds, counted once per reader per note per calendar month; a view of a premium note counts double a view of a free note. Earnings are calculated on the 1st of the following month and become available to withdraw 14 days later. Available earnings may be withdrawn at any time, subject to a minimum of $10 to a US bank account or $50 to a bank account outside the US. Full details are in the Uploader Agreement. We reserve the right to withhold or reverse earnings from accounts that violate these Terms.
8. Acceptable Use
You must not use the Platform to:
- Upload content you do not own or have rights to share
- Upload spam, gibberish, hate speech, or sexually explicit content
- Upload complete copyrighted textbooks or commercial study guides without authorisation
- Manipulate view counts or payout calculations through artificial means
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the Platform
9. Content and Copyright
You retain ownership of the notes you upload. By uploading, you grant NoteMarket (Private) Limited a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, display, and distribute your notes to paying subscribers through the Platform. We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice.
10. Jot
Jot (full name Jotbot) is an AI study assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude. AI responses are for educational assistance only and should not be relied upon as authoritative academic, legal, medical, or professional advice. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Zimbabwean law, NoteMarket (Private) Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Platform at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Zimbabwe.
